A proposal worth debating.
Manifesto 1.0 is an independent proposal for a new British economic and social settlement. Interviews, written contributions, broadcast appearances and serious scrutiny are welcome.
The story
Can Britain build a new social contract that combines a strong financial floor with a clear expectation of contribution — while making work, investment, housebuilding, enterprise and productivity more attractive?
The manifesto proposes a £12,570 conditional USI, abolition of employee NI, lower employer NI, one million social homes, 5% defence spending, nuclear expansion, universal healthcare insurance, public ownership of water and a major restructuring of welfare and taxation.
Interview proposition
Can Britain afford a radically different social contract — or is this economic fantasy?
James Foster is available to defend the proposals and discuss where they should change.
